Welcome to the Arlington Fire District Website

The Arlington Fire District located in Dutchess County, New York, is one of three fire departments that serve the Town of Poughkeepsie.  Around the clock fire protection and advanced life support medical services are provided to a mix use of residential, industrial and commercial properties, major roadways, as well as countless people visiting or traveling through the area.  The District is home to many businesses, including International Business Machines Corporation, and renowned educational institutions such as Vassar College, Oakwoods Friends, and Poughkeepsie Day Schools.
On behalf of the Arlington Fire District, welcome to our website and thank you for taking the time to visit.  The men and women of this department consider public service a privilege and recognize our sworn responsibility to help ensure life safety, stabilize incidents, and conserve property.  Since 1922, we have continued to deliver our services in a courteous, expedient and efficient manner.  Simply stated, our personnel care deeply about their duty to serve and value the trust we are given.
The Arlington Fire District is a full service department that provides fire suppression, first response advanced life support services, fire prevention, technical rescue, fire origin and cause determination, emergency preparedness planning, construction plan review, and other services based upon community needs.  Our mission is accomplished by a proactive approach to fire protection, rescue operations, daily training, community education programs, proper equipment, and a dedicated and professional staff.
As the largest fire district in the Town of Poughkeepsie, we are faced with an enormous task.  The District’s response area covers roughly 22 square miles and we serve an estimated population of more than 33,000 with a combination of 74 career and 36 volunteer personnel. We maintain four fire stations which house 7 engines, 2 ladders, 1 heavy rescue, 1 command vehicle and other support vehicles.  During 2018, we received 5,844 calls for emergency service, averaging over 16 incidents per day.
We are continually working to ensure that our staffing, training, vehicles, equipment and facilities are at the necessary levels to meet the needs of the citizens and community we serve.  As with other municipalities and agencies, we face many challenges and strive to utilize innovative methods to meet operational and financial needs.
It is my honor to serve as your Fire Chief and represent all the men and women who work hard each and every day to make the Arlington Fire District a premiere organization.  Again, thank you for taking the time to visit our website.  We appreciate the interest and continuing support.  Stay safe!
